Irvine, CA – Nov. 20, 2009 – As America fights its way back from one of the worst economic challenges it has ever faced, Phil Baroni (13-11) makes his return to the UFC in a fight that symbolizes the fighting spirit of Americans. With a string of injuries and illnesses plaguing UFC fighters shaking up the main event card, Baroni has a chance to showcase his skills and make a comeback in the UFC. “I came back to the UFC because the UFC is my home, and I’m ready to come home again,” said Baroni in an exclusive interview “The UFC is a chance to climb back on the biggest stage in mixed martial arts.” Hoping to rebound from his stoppage loss to Johnny Hendricks at UFC 101 in July, Amir Sadollah (1-1) seeks to stop Baroni. Sadollah holds a black belt in Sambo and a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. “Amir Sadollah steps into the Octogon as a relatively untested fighter,” said Damian Kutzner, Serious Pimp CEO. “He faces Baroni with something to prove and that makes for exciting fighting.” “From a match-up perspective, Sadollah is the perfect opponent for a fan-friendly fight,” said Baroni. “He is a Thai-style fighter with descent Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.” Serious Pimp is sponsoring Baroni in this return bout against Sadollah in UFC 106. Fighting on the same card as Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin, theirs is one of three welterweight bouts. Despite mixed reviews, Baroni vs. Sadollah promises to be a fight worthy of UFC fans who are hungry for a hero to emerge in the UFC and in life. “Phil Baroni is a symbol of this country’s fighting spirit,” said Kutzner. “There have been times throughout history when it appeared that America was beaten by a bigger, stronger, or faster foe, but Americans have always fought back and overcome.” Baroni left UFC with a 3-5 record. He makes his return to the UFC at 13-11 following fights in Pride, EliteXC, Cage Rage, and Rumble On The Rock. Having previously fought at 185, he trimmed down to 170 for UFC 106. He will be wearing a pair of Serious Pimp sunglasses for the fight. “This fight was promoted to the main card after Brock Lesnar announced that his illness would keep him out,” said Kutzner. “Fans should expect some serious, in-your-face action from these fighters.” Known for his boxing ability and knockout power, Baroni also uses wrestling in both offensive and defensive moves. “This country wants to see warriors put to the ultimate test,” said Kutzner. “They will get that with UFC 106 Baroni vs. Sadollah and with the other fights on the card.” When asked what he thinks of his sponsor Serious Pimp, Baroni said, “Serious Pimp is an established business that has been around for a very long time. They were sponsoring fighters back when MMA wasn’t ‘cool.’ Plus they are OG and, I always get asked where I get my sunglasses!” Serious Pimp’s product line includes sunglasses that blend the hip-hop style of Snoop Dogg, Tha Dog Pound and Ice-T with MMA attitude. The company has a history of supporting MMA fighters. The company sponsored Baroni because of he’s a solid fighter with the attitude of a champion. Baroni and Sadollah will face off at Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be broadcast live on Pay Per View. About Serious Pimp
